Tickets
The ticket desk is on Level 2. Buy tickets for museum entry (international visitors only), paid exhibitions, guided tours, and StoryPlace for children under age 5. Pick up a map and find out about exhibitions and events.
Museum entry
International visitors: Museum entry is $35 for ages 16 years and older. Your ticket is valid for 48 hours. Entry is free for children under 16 years.
New Zealanders: Museum entry is free – no ticket needed. This includes New Zealand citizens and people with visas to study, work, or live in New Zealand.
Guided tours

International visitors: These fees are for guided tours only and do not include the $35 museum entry charge for international visitors. Save $10 by buying a guided tour + museum entry package – available online only.
Visitor services
Te Papa is open 10am–6pm daily except Christmas Day.
Lockers for items like coats and bags are on Level 1. Fee applies.
Internet is free – connect with Free-Te-Papa-WiFi.
Toilets are on Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Parents’ rooms are on Level 1 in the cafe, and on Levels 2, 4, and 5.
Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available to use for free – ask a Host.
Cafes and stores
Te Papa Cafe: Our award-winning cafe is the perfect place to refuel during your visit. Level 1, open 9am–5pm daily except Christmas Day. Kitchen closes 3pm.
Espresso cafe: Serving up hot drinks and high teas. Take in the view of exhibitions. Level 4, open 10am–4pm daily except Christmas Day.
Te Papa Store: Discover uniquely New Zealand products, from contemporary art to traditional Māori taonga. Every purchase supports Te Papa. Level 1, open 9am–6pm daily except Christmas Day.
Toa Tamariki: A gift shop for children. Includes a slide to keep the kids entertained while you shop. Level 2, open 9am–6pm daily except Christmas Day.
